Tony sirico Biography : Tony sirico is an American actor who was born on July 29, 1942 in New York City, his full name is Gennaro Anthony Sirico Jr. People know his best roles as Peter Paul in “Paulie Walnuts” and Gualtieri as The Sopranos. Apart from this, he has also given numerous appearances in the film Woody Allen.

Tony Sirico Early life :-

Sirico was born in New York City on July 29, 1942, into a family of Italian descent. His brother’s name is Robert Sirico, who is a Catholic priest and co-founder of the free-market Acton Institute. Sirico has been considered a criminal in many crimes and was arrested in 28 times, he was considered accused for disorderly conduct, assault, and robbery. On 27 February 1970, he was arrested in a restaurant and a 32 caliber revolver was also found in his possession.

In 1971, he was convicted, and imprisoned as a prisoner for 4 years for the offenses of extortion, coercion, and felony weapons possession, and imprisonment. According to a court transcript at the time he was serving his prison sentence, Sirico was the owner of a discotheque in Manhattan, and was already facing multiple criminal charges for committing toxic drugs.

During his imprisonment, a gang of criminals inspired him to try acting, after which he made an appearance in the 1989 James Toback documentary film The Big Bang, in which he discussed his earlier life.

Tony Sirico Career :-

  • Sirico’s career debut was as an extra in the 1974 film Crazy Joe, in which he took on the role with the help of Richard Castellano, his first acting coach was Michael Gazzo. Sirico has played gangsters role in most of the films, including Goodfellas, Mob Queen, Mighty Aphrodite, Love and Money, Fingers, The One Man Jury, Defense, The Last Fight, Innocent Blood, Bullets Over Broadway, The Pick-Up Artist, Gotti  , One-Eye Jimmy, Cop Land, Turn of Faith, Hello Again, Mickey Blue Eyes and Quest for the Wonder Wheel, etc.
  • He later played a policeman role in the films Dead Presidents and Deconstructing Harry. Sirico played the role of Paulie Gualtieri in David Chase’s Emmy Award-winning play, The Sopranos, in which he delivered a stellar performance that made him stand out among the public.
  • Mainly they went to give the audition for the role of Uncle Junior, with Frank Vincent, but Dominic Chianese had been selected for this role, So David Chase suddenly offered him the role of Paulie Gualtieri. He immediately said yes to this role considering the condition as he doesn’t have to be a rat in this role.
  • In late 2013, he served as a vice artist for the character of Winnie Griffin, the family pet dog for three episodes on Family Guy, being replaced by Brian Griffin after Sirico’s death. In this episode Brian Griffin was brought through time travel. Later, Sirico also created a live-action comeo in episodes “Stewie, Chris, and Brian’s excellent adventure”, where he threatened Stewie, because he insulted the Italians, by saying “ridiculous people”. Premiere of Vinny  Season 15, will return to a Camio’s appearance at the end of “The Boys in the Band”.

Tony Sirico had two children named Joanne and Richard. Sirico died at the age of 79 on July 8, 2022 at an assisted living facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. No cause of his death was given, but he was diagnosed with dementia a few years before his death. 

Once in the year 1999, he and Sopranos co-star Vincent Pastore met James Clemenza and his brother Jerry at a party.  Clemenza was under FBI surveillance during that time.

Filmography :-

His film career started in 1974, after which he played his role in many famous films, television shows and video games and did a very commendable work and also won awards.

His famous movies are Crazy Joe, The One Man Jury, Love and Money etc and popular TV shows are Police Squad, Kojak, Witness to the Mob, The Sopranos etc and in 2006 a video game in which he played Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri.  The Sopranos: Road to Respect.

Awards and nominations :-

Sirico received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Nomination Work The Sopranos in the category Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
