In 2018, Wilson began his sports gaming career at BYU, playing another nine games and starting seven games. He started his first gaming career against Hawaii and played for BYU as a youngest quarterback player. Wilson finished the season by completing 120 of 182 passes for 1,578 yards with 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
Completing all his 18 passes for 317 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 49-18 victory over Western Michigan.
2019 season
Wilson went on to be a sophomore in 2019 where he started nine games, completing 199 of 319 passes for 2,382 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The Cougars were also invited to the 2019 Hawaii Bowl season, where Wilson suffered a 38–34 loss to Hawaii and was named BYU’s MVP.

Wilson started 12 games in the 2020 season, completing 247 of 336 passes for 3,692 yards. He completed 33 touchdowns and three interceptions in one season while running for 255 yards and 10 touchdowns, breaking Steve Young’s school completion percentage of 73.5 percent.Wilson was named offensive MVP of the 2020 Boca Raton Bowl as Wilson completed 26 of 34 passes and three touchdowns for 425 yards in a 49-23 win over UCF. And later Wilson and USC safety Talanoa Hufanga were selected for the 2020 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year award.
